The 68 Rooms by Marianne Malone

This story is based on the Chicago Thorne rooms (a room in the Chicago Museum of Art that has lots of little doll house rooms).  In this story there is a boy and a girl who find a coin that can shrink them so that they can go into the Thorne rooms.  The Thorne rooms take them back in time.  The coin leads them to a lot of adventure and fun.  There are three more books in the series which are mysteries.  In these books, the children continue to explore the worlds in the Thorne rooms.

There is a book that Peter gave to me that shows all the rooms from the museum.  I can show you the rooms from the book if you read it.

These are pictures of some of the rooms from the museum.

Dragon Slippers by Jessica Day George

Dragon slippers is a fun but scary story. It is about a girl whose mother is a popular embroiderer.  The girl's dream is to one day own and embroidery shop.  Her mother and father die so she is sent to her aunt's house, but her aunt is poor.  Her aunt makes her go to a dragon's cave so a knight will save and marry her, but she bargains with the dragon.  The dragon is too lazy to fight and she doesn't want to get eaten by the dragon.  They agree he would give her some of his hoard if she tells the knight that she escaped. So, she left with a pair of slippers.

There are two more books in the series: Dragon Flight and Dragon Spear.

Written on the front of the book: "She wanted a dragon gold.  She got a pair of slippers."
